Tips For Chosing The Perfect Plastic Picture Frames

My son and his wife recently bought their first home. It is small, but it is a great starter home for them. The house has a nice size kitchen with an informal dining area off to one side. The living room has a great deal of space and has a nice gas fireplace. There are two bedrooms with a full bathroom in between them. They also have a full walkout basement that has a laundry room, utility room and a family room that is partially finished. There is a small three quarter bath on the lower level also that has been roughed in but needs to be finished. This provides them with plenty of room to move into and an expansion project to work on together.
My son asked me if I would go shopping with his wife to pick out decorations for the rooms. Her mother died when she was young and her father did not have the skills to raise her. She spent most of her formative years moving from one relative to another and also spent some time in a foster home. The most stable part of her life was going to college and now being married to my son. I thought the shopping trip would be a way to get to know each other better. She has never had much money so she tends to buy cheap things. She wanted to start at discount stores to look for some of the home furnishings that they need. I told her that there was a great sale going on at a major department store and that maybe we should start there. She was looking for art to hang on the walls and also accent pieces. She showed me a picture that she brought along to return to a discount store. My son that it looked too cheap and he did not like plastic picture frames and this one had one.
I began giving my daughter lessons in buying quality verses quantity. She would be better off buying one nicely framed piece than to have several plastic picture frames hanging on the wall. I suggested that she frame some of their wedding pictures and to use them throughout the house. She looked embarrassed when she told me that she had bought plastic picture frames to put the wedding pictures in. We started in the frames department at the store. Several very nice wood frames and crystal frames were on sale. These nicer frames came with matting and the option to set or stand. We compared them to some of the plastic picture frames that were available. The quality difference was obvious. My new daughter-in-law asked many questions that day as we were shopping. She wants to have a tastefully decorated home, she just needs to learn what to buy and group together for a well furnished look.
